Hop up rubbers, also referred to as buckings, are the piece of rubber that sits around the barrel, and applies backspin to your BB. Given how integral this component is, there is no surprise that there are a lot of different options out there. The main avenues to consider are the degrees of hardness (the higher the degree, the harder the rubber is), the material used for the bucking, the mound design, and more.

The harder a hop up rubber is, the longer it will last, but it will impart less spin on each BB due to the decrease in friction. Harder hop up rubbers are primary designed for markets with a higher FPS limit, where it plays more of a role. Traditionally, for best performance, you want to go soft (however, it will mean you will be replacing your hop up rubber more often). The mound type is the material that pushes into the barrel - there are plenty of styles to choose from, but typically they are the traditional mound (single), moundless, twin-points (designed to keep the BB more centered), and flat.
